Acer Inc. Projectors

How to read Acer projector model names: the class letter H, V, P, X, S, K, C and the lamp-free XL, PL, UL, the first digit for the line, the second digit for resolution 2, 3, 5, 6, the third digit for the model number, the letter W for WXGA, the letter H for the HDMI version and the BD suffix for Blu-ray 3D, explained on the X138WHBD.

How to read model names
X138WHBD
Leading letter · class and light source
H home cinema (H6510BD) · V senior home range (V7850) · P business and installation (P5530, P6600) · X mass-market office units (X138WH) · S short throw (S1286H). A second letter L means there is no lamp: XL and PL are laser (XL3510ATV, PL6610T), UL is ultra-short-throw laser (UL5630). K and C are pocket LED units (K138ST, C250i). Everything else runs a lamp.
First digit · line within the class
Shows how senior the unit is inside its class. The X138WH belongs to the mass-market X1 line, while P5530 and P6600 sit in the senior installation lines P5 and P6. A higher digit means a heavier chassis, better optics and a higher price. It does not encode brightness.
Second digit · resolution
The most useful digit in the code. 2 — XGA 1024×768 (X128H) · 3 — WXGA 1280×800 (X138WH) · 5 — Full HD 1920×1080 (X152H) · 6 — WUXGA 1920×1200 (X1623H). Per the Acer manual the same rule holds in the S and BS ranges: S1286H XGA, BS-312 WXGA, BS-520 WUXGA.
Third digit · model number
A sequence number inside a line at the same resolution. A higher figure means a later release or slightly more brightness: X126 → X128H. Comparing only makes sense within one three-digit group. Lumens are not encoded here — take them from the spec sheet.
The letter W · widescreen
It repeats the resolution in words: W appears only on WXGA 1280×800 models in 16:10 — X138WH, S1386WH, P1355W, X1323WH. With no W the unit is either 4:3 or 16:9, and you read the resolution off the second digit.
The letter H · HDMI version
The most common mistake on the used market: H here does not stand for «HD». It marks the build fitted with an HDMI port. The X128 and the X128H are the same XGA 1024×768 model, grouped together in the Acer manual; only the port differs. The same goes for X118 / X118H.
The BD suffix · Blu-ray 3D support
BD means playing 3D from Blu-ray over DLP Link, and it says nothing about resolution. In the Acer manual it is a separate line, «Blu-Ray 3D supported». Compare: H5380BD — 1280×720, H9500BD — Full HD, H6830BD — 4K UHD. Two identical letters, three different chips.
X138WHBD = Acer · mass-market X1 office line · WXGA 1280×800 · eighth model · with HDMI · Blu-ray 3D
